"SOUND OF WATER" (I and II)

Unique piece
Size: 2 x 305 cm x 70 cm
Material: Acrylic Paint, Light Box, Speakers, Sound recordings

The concept of this works is "translation from sound to light".
Telling or expressing something is to always telling with translate and communicate my feelings. By doing so, we can barely tell them to the other people. But what I feel and tell you will change little by little in the process of translation. There is no way that my feelings are completely transmitted to the other person. I think that there is some kind of transience. I feel that it's beautiful.
This work is a visual representation of the sound of water. The light box is composed of Morse code pattern. And this Morse pattern is made from what was translated from onomatopoeia representing the sound of water. Water is always flowing and is fleeting. I have recorded many sounds of the ocean, sounds of the river, lakes, rain, and so on up to now. Even during my stay in Germany, I went to Cuxhaven, Binz, Helgoland and recorded the sound of the sea. I made an onomatopoeia of sound of water sound from that soundscape, and composed the Morse pattern. One light box consists mainly of rain and waterfall sounds. The other one consists only of the sound of the ocean. The sounds are taken from various places in Japan and Germany.
From the sound of water to onomatopoeia. And from onomatopoeia to Morse code. The Morse pattern is transformed into light by the light box.

I could become acquainted with some people lives in Hamburg. Some Japanese artists and a Russian artist and her family. They gave me a lot of supports for making works. We could have good relationships with many people while this residence. This experience is very beautiful thing. We were given the chance to meet some people related the art. I hope that this relationship will continue in the future. And also he gave us very good quality living environment. I think that this residence program differs from other programs in that the works will be in the collection. It is very important for artist and works.
