Established back in 2006, LagoArt is my private Contemporary Japanese Art Collection, located in Hamburg, Germany. Works include photography, sound installations, paintings, mixed media and sculptures.
I found my interest in art when experiencing the up-spring of the first Chinese Contemporary Galleries in Shanghai in the Mid 90s. But as often in younger age there were no financial means to start collecting and I had to wait another decade to purchase the first real art work to be owned by myself.

Often asked why to concentrate (almost exclusively) on Japanese artists only I made this decision for a reason. For me Japanese artists come from a rich cultural background which is so different from the Western world and which allows a fascinating different approach of expression. Japanese art has a long history and has always used different techniques and materials. Additionally the almost obsessive strive for perfection which can be seen in many parts of Japanese life does not stop with artists.
